What is
Internet Web Site Hosting? Hosting
is the space on the internet server
where your web site resides. This is
space that you lease. Hosting can
include features that will allow your
web page to operate smoother and more
efficiently. It also can include
preinstalled scripts. For example,
if you are making your website with
front page you will need a server that
has FrontPage extensions in order for
your site to operate properly.
Some servers do not offer any benefits
or preinstalled scripts.
When you
lease space for your web site you will
need to consider two main features.
The space and the bandwidth. The
space is the storage space that you have
available to you. This is the
space that your web site uses. The
bandwidth is how much space is used when
people access your site. In some
cases it can be larger that the space
that your website uses. In other
cases it can be very small.
Bandwidth is added up monthly normally.
Every time someone goes to your site
they are using bandwidth. You need
to be careful when considering space and
bandwidth. Many servers do not put
limits on your space so that you are
free to go over. Then when you go
over you incur large bills and fees.
With our service we estimate the space
and bandwidth you need and monitor it.
When you are close to needing more we
will notify you and allow you to
purchase more space (cheaper than
overage fees) or to reduce your size.
If your site somehow were to go over you
will not incur a fee but you site will
be temporarily out of service until it
is remedied. This very rarely
occurs, in fact we have never had
this situation. Quite simply for
this reason. When we see a site
that needs more space we talk to the
owner and allow them to purchase more
space. You will not receive an
unexpected bill because your website
used more space than its service size.
